Seniors
Senior Projects
Between exams and graduation in May, seniors begin a two-week program that allows them to pursue an area of interest outside of school. This internship has typically involved students in the fields of medicine, law, business, fine arts, and service work. However, a number of young people have proposed creative programs that match them to vocations like oceanography, politics, city planning, and many others. Students are required to write a report on their experiences and give an oral report to members of the faculty upon their return to school. Each year, seniors look forward to this opportunity and find Senior Projects to be an enriching and worthwhile learning experience.
Senior Teacher Day
Senior-Teacher Day is a program in the Senior School that allows each member of the senior class an opportunity to assume the responsibilities of a teacher, administrator, or staff person for an entire day. Usually held in February, students complete lesson plans and make many other preparations to ensure that the day is meaningful as they set out to teach classes, including Middle and Lower School classes, or to assume administrative responsibilities.
Senior-Teacher Day is a great opportunity for students and teachers to create meaningful, working relationships. Seniors develop a new understanding of classroom preparation and planning, maintaining a well-functioning office, or the responsibilities of the administration as they delve into these "behind-the-scenes" activities.
