Educational Technology
Effective use of information technology in the classroom stimulates independent inquiry, fosters critical thinking skills, accommodates a variety of learning styles, and builds confidence in the learner. Technology enables cooperation and communication among the school, the home, and the global community at large. Through well-designed lessons, students' use of technology develops essential skills for lifelong learning in any field, such as taking charge of one's own inquiry, finding mentors and engaging collaborators from around the world, and shaping ideas for effective communication.
The Department of Technology is dedicated to the school-wide integration of technology with student learning, consistent with the Academy's core values of character, academic vigor, diversity, and community. Sewickley Academy students develop information technology skills for research, creativity, and communication across all areas of inquiry.
