The Sewickley Academy varsity golf program has a proud history of excellence. We welcome the opportunity to compete on a yearly basis against the best programs in the Western Pennsylvania area. A varsity sport at the Academy since the 1970's, SA has won eleven section championships, including the past six championships, and captured WPIAL Championships in 2006, 2007, and 2008.
The growing popularity of the sport resulted in the addition of a junior varsity boy's team in 2004 and a junior varsity girl's team in 2009, and more than 30 students a year play golf in our program . It would not be possible to field such numbers and quality without the outstanding support from Allegheny Country Club. We play our home matches at this beautiful golf course, and our students receive lessons at the driving range from their talented professionals.
Winning is very important to us, but not as important as striving to be a team and treating others with respect. Our students reflect the highest ideals of sportsmanship, as they play a sport with self-enforced rules. The Academy's talented golfers are successful not only during their fall sports season but also while competing in country club tournaments, King's tournaments, AJGA events, and even United States Open Golf qualifiers.
